About Us

G4S Oakhill Secure Training Centre (STC) cares for children aged 12 to 18 years old who have been
remanded or sentenced to periods of detention. The children in our care can be vulnerable and
challenging with a wide range of complex social and emotional needs. This is an environment that calls for
high standards of social care and service delivery to provide a secure and stable environment for children
to develop their life skills and address their previous behaviours. We aim to support change and learning.

We strive to help every child feel safe giving them an opportunity to heal from trauma and feel supported
in developing a more positive identity. We ensure our children have equal access and opportunity for
change and are celebrated for their strengths. We want the children in our care to leave better equipped
for life emotionally mentally physically and socially. We aim to support the constructive resettlement
and transition of our children whether returning to the community or moving to other custodial settings.
We are committed to working in partnership with them and their families significant others and wider
community organisations to develop a quality regime at the centre.

About the Role

We are now expanding our Education team and we are looking for a Teacher of Personal Social Health
and Economic (PSHE) to deliver accredited learning to young people undertaking PSHE study programmes
at Oakhill STC.

As a Teacher of PSHE you will play an integral part of a childs learning at Oakhill Secure Training Centre to
provide and deliver aspiring educational outcomes. You will be responsible for delivering teaching that
develops curious inquisitive and committed minds where you help and support the children to explore
and meet their individual needs and interests.

needs to balance safety safeguarding health wellbeing and learning and development opportunities for
the children.

Some of the key responsibilities of this role are:

• Assist in the promotion of creating a positive Health & Safety culture across the site leading by example this includes reporting accidents and near misses in a timely manner following theapplicable safe systems of work for the role.

• Plan develop and deliver allocated education in accordance with the timetable and NationalCurriculum so that individual young people needs are met
• Liaise with relevant key stakeholders to ensure an integrated approach to young peoples careand education.
• Monitor young peoples progress and undertake assessments so that they receive appropriatesupport and have the opportunity to achieve recognised qualifications.
• Assist in the development of educational materials ensuring quality and consistency ofapproach.
• Complete all documentation as required to meet the needs of the company & relevantawarding bodies.
• Manage the teaching environment ensuring security of equipment and welfare of young peoplein line with contractual requirements.
• Ensure Maintenance of Security within the Centre environment by compliance with Security.
• You are required to comply with the UK General Data Protection Regulations (UK GDPR) andData Protection Act 2018 and the organisations Data Protection Policies and must ensure thatpersonal data relating to service users colleagues and others is collected stored processed anddisposed of in accordance with these requirements.
• You must only access personal information necessary for your role maintain confidentiality atall times and immediately report any data breaches or suspected breaches in line with G4Sprocedures.

About you

To succeed in this role you will need to be a dynamic and engaging individual with a passion for helping
mentoring and supporting at the heart of everything you do. The role will require you to promote a child
centred approach which prioritises both the safeguarding of the childrens welfare and wellbeing as well as
ensuring that a stable and secure environment is provided for all the children and employees at the Centre.

The successful candidate must have a formal relevant teacher or training qualification e.g. QTS QTLS
DTTLS or PGCE).

You will play a huge part in the rehabilitation of a childs future journey and life choices. We are looking for
a highly motivated caring and determined Education professional with the ability to be resilient confident
with a tenacious can-do attitude have the ability to embrace complexity and be a part of a busy
supportive and fast paced team.
