As a Project Procurement Manager within Mission Systems youll join a forward-thinking international organisation thats continually innovating to support defence aerospace and engineering programmes that matter. This is an exciting opportunity to lead procurement activity across complex projects influence strategic supplier relationships and help deliver solutions that contribute to national security. Youll play a key role in generating value improving supplier performance and strengthening supply chain resilience while developing your own leadership capability within a business that invests in its people.

The role

As a Project Procurement Manager youll lead procurement strategy and supplier engagement across key projects ensuring the right products and services are delivered at the right cost quality and time. Working closely with internal stakeholders and suppliers youll help drive operational excellence innovation and long-term value creation throughout the supply chain.

Day-to-day youll be required to:

  • Leading supply chain activity across designated projects ensuring delivery against customer requirements.
  • Managing and developing a team of procurement professionals including Buyers and Senior Buyers.
  • Negotiating and selecting suppliers for major procurement programmes and strategic spend categories.
  • Driving supplier performance improvements and resolving commercial or operational issues.
  • Building strong cross-functional relationships and identifying innovative supply chain solutions.

This role is full time 37 hours per week and provides hybrid working arrangements with 1 or 2 days in the office and 2 or 3 days working from home.

Essential experience of the Project Procurement Manager

  • Demonstrating significant experience within procurement supply chain management commercial engineering or operational environments.
  • Building and managing effective supplier relationships to deliver value and performance improvements.
  • Leading teams and developing procurement professionals to achieve business objectives.
  • Managing complex negotiations and supplier selection activities.
  • Working collaboratively with internal stakeholders across multiple business functions.

Qualifications for the Project Procurement Manager

  • Membership of a relevant professional body e.g. CIPS at level 5 or above is advantageous but not essential
