Job Summary
3 Month Contract With A local Authority
Job Purpose
To lead the delivery of a major multi-million-pound highway construction project ensuring successful completion within agreed scope budget quality and programme requirements. The role will manage all phases of project delivery coordinating stakeholders contractors consultants and internal teams to achieve safe efficient and compliant construction outcomes.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage the end-to-end delivery of a major highway construction project.
- Develop and maintain project plans programmes budgets and risk registers.
- Coordinate contractors consultants suppliers and key stakeholders throughout the project lifecycle.
- Monitor project progress and performance ensuring delivery against agreed objectives timelines and budgets.
- Identify and manage project risks issues and mitigation strategies.
- Ensure compliance with relevant health and safety legislation construction standards and industry regulations.
- Manage project governance reporting and communication with senior stakeholders.
- Oversee quality assurance processes and ensure construction works meet required standards.
- Lead project meetings and provide regular updates on progress risks and financial performance.
- Support effective contract administration and change control processes.
- Ensure successful project handover and completion documentation.
Requirements
Essential
- Proven experience delivering major highway construction projects.
- Strong project management experience within civil engineering highways infrastructure or construction environments.
- Experience managing project budgets programmes risks and stakeholders.
- Knowledge of construction delivery processes contract management and health and safety requirements.
- Excellent communication negotiation and stakeholder management skills.
- Ability to manage complex projects and work effectively under pressure.
- Experience producing project reports and presenting information to senior stakeholders.
Desirable
- Experience delivering highway structures projects including bridges and associated infrastructure.
- Relevant project management qualification (e.g. PRINCE2 APM PMP).
- Experience managing multi-million-pound public sector infrastructure projects.
- Professional qualification in Engineering Construction Management or a related discipline.

- Location: County Hall Northleigh Chichester
- Working Pattern: Hybrid working minimum 2 days per week in the office
- Hours: 37 per week
- Pay Frequency: Bi-weekly
