Production Team Leader
Location: Carlisle Cumbria
Salary: 39841 per annum
Job Type: Permanent Full-time
Hours: Flexible working hours with the role requiring flexibility to cover shifts between 6am and 11pm
NXT Recruitment is working in partnership with an established manufacturing business in Carlisle to recruit an experienced Production Team Leader.
This is an important position within the production operation with responsibility for leading a team maintaining high standards across safety and quality driving production performance and identifying opportunities to improve the way the department operates.
Were looking for someone with previous experience in a manufacturing environment who is confident leading people working to targets and taking ownership when things need to improve.
The Role
As Production Team Leader youll be responsible for the day-to-day management and performance of your production team.
Youll be a visible presence on the shop floor making sure work is completed safely efficiently and to the required quality standards while also supporting the team to achieve production and customer requirements.
Youll work closely with managers and other departments including Quality Engineering Planning and HR helping to resolve issues quickly and identify opportunities for continuous improvement.
Your responsibilities will include:
Leading motivating and supporting a team within a busy manufacturing environment
Managing day-to-day production activities and ensuring targets are achieved
Monitoring performance against agreed KPIs and taking action where required
Promoting a strong culture of health and safety across the team
Ensuring company procedures Risk Assessments and Standard Operating Procedures are followed
Reviewing processes and identifying ways to improve production efficiency
Monitoring quality and helping to drive a right-first-time approach
Identifying and reducing waste downtime and production issues
Supporting investigations and root cause analysis when problems occur
Ensuring production start-up and process control procedures are followed correctly
Making sure resources are used effectively to meet production requirements
Working closely with Quality and Engineering teams to resolve issues
Supporting the training development and performance of team members
Holding people accountable for agreed standards and targets
Contributing to continuous improvement projects and challenging processes where improvements can be made
Supporting wider business requirements including occasional travel to other sites and planned stock takes
About You
Were looking for an experienced production professional who enjoys leading people and improving performance.
Youll ideally have:
Previous experience as a Team Leader Supervisor or similar within a manufacturing or production environment
Experience managing and developing a small team
A strong understanding of production processes and operational efficiency
Experience working to KPIs targets and performance standards
A good understanding of health and safety requirements within a manufacturing environment
Strong communication and people management skills
The confidence to address performance issues and hold others accountable
A practical approach to problem-solving and decision-making
Good organisational and planning skills
Strong attention to quality and process
Good IT skills and confidence working with performance information and systems
The ability to work effectively with different departments and influence others
A proactive approach to continuous improvement
The resilience and flexibility to work in a fast-moving production environment
Youll be someone who leads by example communicates well with your team and takes pride in maintaining high standards across Safety Quality Cost Delivery and People.

Youll be given responsibility for managing your own team improving processes and working closely with other areas of the business to deliver safe efficient and high-quality production.
