Our Water Services team clean water to the highest standard deliver it to millions of homes and carefully manage it to ensure it never runs out. We borrow water from the environment storeitand treat it to world-class standards to supply safe drinking water to 4.3 million customers in towns and villages from Grimsby in the northeast of our region to Milton Keynes at the south-western tip.

As aProduction Planning Support Engineeryoullplay a vital role in ensuring the right quantity and quality of water is delivered where and whenitsneeded. Working within our Production Planning teamyoullsupport the creation ofdailyweeklyand monthly operational plans gathering and interpreting real-time system constraints to keep our network running efficiently and compliantly.

Youllcollaborate closely with operational teamsplannersand analysts building a strong understanding of the network and proactivelyidentifyingrisks and opportunities. As a key user of our production planning toolsyoullhelp drive continuous improvement and ensure our plans remainaccurateimplementableand responsive to change.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Gather andmonitordynamic operational constraints such as demand asset availability waterqualityand abstraction limits

  • Support the development and delivery ofaccurate actionable production plans across multiple timescales

  • Act as a super-user of production planning tools ensuring data isaccurateand up to date

  • Monitor KPIs and system performanceidentifyingpotential deviations and risks

  • Investigate issues support root causeanalysisand help implement mitigations

  • Work closely with operational teams to communicate plans and respond to changing conditions

  • Contribute to continuous improvement of planning toolsprocessesand data quality

  • Support maintenance and capital delivery by contributing to operational impact planning

  • Build strong relationships across Water Services Asset Health WaterResourcesand wider stakeholders

What does it take to be a Production Planning Support Engineer

  • Experience in an operational or engineering role ideally within the water industry

  • Strong understanding of water treatment and distribution processes

  • Knowledge of hydraulic principles

  • Confident using complex software datatoolsor models (e.g. hydraulic or planning tools)

  • Experience working with operational stakeholders and influencing decisions

  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret data andidentifytrends

  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills

  • A relevant qualification or equivalent experience in engineeringscienceor data-related fields (desirable)
