What is the role

Make a difference every day as a Procurement apprentice at Hafod.

Start a new chapter at Hafod whether youre leaving education returning to work or looking for a career change.

As a Procurement Apprentice youll gain hands-on experience supporting procurement and contract management activities that help Hafod deliver services to our customers and communities.

Youll work alongside experienced procurement professionals contribute to meaningful projects and develop valuable commercial analytical and organisational skills while working towards a nationally recognised qualification.

Please note:Wereunable to offer visa sponsorship for this is a 24 months full time (37.5hrs)programmethat will begin in January 2027

What youll learn and how well support you :

• Youll work towards a nationally recognised Level 3 CIPS (Chartered Institute of Procurement and Supply) with one of our trusted apprenticeship training partners.
• Youll gain practical experience across procurement activities and complete rotational placements with teams including Finance Assets Health & Safety Development and Care.
• Youll develop a broad understanding of procurement contract management and how different parts of Hafod work together to deliver excellent services.
• Youll learn through hands on experience while working alongside supportive and knowledgeable Hafod colleagues.
• Youll also benefit from coaching and mentoring and will have regular check ins to discuss your progress and next steps.
• Youll take part in our early talent development programme joining a community of Hafod apprentices helping you to grow both personally and professionally.

This role involves regular travel across our sites and services. While a driving licence isnt essential many of our locations are not easily reached by public transport so being able to drive and use your own vehicle is often the most practical way to travel.

If you use your own vehicle for work youll need appropriate insurance (for example business use).

If you dont hold a licence or dont have access to a vehicle wed still encourage you to apply. Were happy to have a conversation with you about how you could still meet the travel requirements of the role.

What youll be doing

• Supporting procurement processes by tracking orders resolving routine process queries and helping colleagues across the business.
• Assisting with supplier onboarding gathering supporting documentation and maintaining procurement records and contract registers.
• Supporting tendering activities by preparing documentation uploading information to e-tendering portals and monitoring supplier communications.
• Producing spend reports researching suppliers and gathering market intelligence to support procurement decisions.
• Assisting with supplier performance monitoring quote requests contract award administration and continuous improvement activities.

What youll bring

Were looking for people who share our values and are ready to learn.

You dont need previous procurement experience. What matters most is your willingness to learn attention to detail and ability to work collaboratively with others.

• Have good IT skills including Microsoft Office such as Word Excel and Outlook.
• Value working as part of a team and understand that supporting colleagues is just as important as supporting customers.
• Bring a respectful caring approach and recognise the difference small actions can make.
• Communicate well with a willingness to listen ask questions share ideas and build positive relationships.
• Take pride in doing things well and show a dependable responsible attitude to both work and learning.

These strengths can come from education work volunteering family or other life experiences.

Who can apply

If youre thinking about applying here are a few things to help you decide if this apprenticeship is right for you.

• Youre aged 16 or over. Some apprenticeships may have a higher minimum age where this is needed for safety or service reasons.
• You have a minimum of five GCSEs (or equivalent) including English and Maths (A* -C)
• Youre not studying towards another qualification when the apprenticeship begins as this programme requires strong commitment to both work and learning.
• You do not already hold a qualification at the same or higher level in the same subject area as this apprenticeship.
• You can start the apprenticeship in January 2027.
