Process Safety Engineer:

London

Position summary:

The successful candidate will executeprocesssafetyengineering deliverables on a Pre-FEED basis working within a multidisciplinary team environment. Key activities include:

Execute majorprocesssafetydeliverables in accordance with approved engineering procedures and design criteria.

Prepare coordinate and review engineering designs studies and reports.

Lead design development and coordinate across engineering disciplines while managing workload and schedule.

Resolve complex design challenges including conflicting requirements and coordination issues.

Plan and prepare equipment/work specifications bid evaluations and award recommendations.

Coordinate engineering efforts between specialty groups clients suppliers and contractors.

Assist in on-the-job training of personnel and contribute to performance evaluations.

Prepare and review conceptual/Pre-FEED studies designs reports and proposals.

Support preparation of cost estimates quantity take-offs and staffing requirements for proposals.

Review and check work produced by junior engineers.

Key responsibilities:

The role involves technical leadership across a broad range ofprocesssafetyactivities:

Lead and manage HAZID What-If HAZOP and LOPA reviews.

Conduct hazardous area classification fire & gas detection system and firewater system design.

Develop Performance Standards forSafetyCritical Systems.

Maintain Hazard and Risk Registers throughout the project lifecycle.

Review and validate third-party studies including: Fire & Explosion Analysis Quantitative Risk Assessment Facility Siting Studies Emergency System Survivability Analysis (ESSA) Escalation Risk Assessments and SIMOPS Risk Assessments.

Support preparation and maintenance of theSafetyCase /SafetyReport for a Major Hazard Facility.

Qualifications & skills:

Recognised degree from an accredited university plus a minimum of 15 years of relevantprocesssafetyexperience.

Professional Engineer (PE) licence IChemE Chartered Engineer status or commitment to achieving this.

Specialist knowledge in one or more of: HAZOP/LOPA QRA SIL assessment consequence modelling or hazardous area classification.

Strong understanding of technical theory engineering principles and their practical application in design execution.

Familiarity with majorsafetyregulations and industry codes: NFPA API IEC UK/Europeansafetyregulations (COMAH DSEAR PSSR etc.).
