Role Description
As a Principal Engineer at Arcadis you will play a key role in delivering rail infrastructure projects across the UK. Working as part of a multidisciplinary team you will provide technical leadership oversee the development of high-quality design solutions and support the successful delivery of projects for our clients.
Were looking for an experienced rail engineer with strong technical expertise and a passion for solving complex engineering challenges. Youll have the opportunity to lead project teams work closely with clients and contribute to the development of the next generation of engineers.
Role Accountabilities
  • Lead mentor and develop design team members.
  • Oversee the technical delivery of rail projects ensuring quality and compliance from concept to completion.
  • Champion safety health and environmental (SHE) best practice across all project activities.
  • Collaborate with local and global multidisciplinary teams to deliver integrated engineering solutions.
  • Act as a key client contact providing project updates and resolving technical challenges.
  • Provide technical leadership and approval of design deliverables and interdisciplinary reviews.
  • Prepare and present technical proposals recommendations and solutions to clients and stakeholders.
  • Manage the production and quality assurance of analysis design documentation and technical reports.
  • Support the commercial management of projects and maintain accurate project records.
  • Maintain Continuing Professional Development (CPD) and contribute to the wider teams capability and growth.
Qualifications & Experience
  • BSc/BEng or MSc/MEng in Civil Engineering or a related discipline.
  • Experience delivering rail infrastructure projects and leading design teams.
  • Proven experience as a Contractors Responsible Engineer (CRE) on Network Rail projects.
  • Strong knowledge of Eurocodes Network Rail standards and relevant design software such as LUSAS MIDAS Bentley products and ProjectWise.
  • Experience delivering projects involving stations structures and lineside ancillary assets.
  • Knowledge of site surveys construction-related challenges and CDM Regulations.
  • Strong technical report-writing and client-facing skills.
  • Chartered Engineer (CEng) status or working towards chartership (desirable)
