Pre School Room Leader
Job Summary
We are representing a well-established Good Ofsted-rated nursery setting in Sydenham. Operating from a dedicated self-contained building with exclusive facilities and on-site parking the setting is located within a 5-minute walk of the nearest rail station and offers strong local bus links. They are seeking an enthusiastic experienced Room Leader to head their vibrant Pre-School room.
Role Overview:
As the Pre-School Room Leader you will lead the room team to deliver exceptional early years care and education to children aged 3 to 5 years. You will oversee room planning guide children through essential developmental milestones and ensure smooth transitions to primary school.
Key Responsibilities:
Lead and inspire the pre-school team to provide high-quality care education and play-based learning.
Prepare and maintain childrens developmental records observations next steps and learning journeys.
Complete school transition reports and implement targeted support (SENCO experience welcomed).
Design implement and evaluate enriching activities aligned with the EYFS curriculum.
Fulfil key person responsibilities and foster positive partnerships with parents carers and external professionals.
Lead room meetings to motivate the team share key updates and coordinate daily tasks.
Ensure strict adherence to safeguarding child protection and health and safety policies including daily room risk assessments.

Requirements:
Minimum NVQ Level 3 in Childcare/Early Years or recognized equivalent.
Proven experience working with children aged 3 to 5 years in an early years setting.
In-depth understanding of the EYFS framework tracking and school readiness.
Strong leadership communication and organizational skills.
Solid understanding of safeguarding procedures (Paediatric First Aid and Food Hygiene are advantageous).
Enhanced DBS disclosure (or willingness to complete one).

Required Education:
You must hold a Full & Relevant Early Years or Childcare qualification (e.g. NVQ CACHE Level 3 Early Years Educator NNEB). Please note: Due to government ratio regulations Health & Social Care or Teaching Assistant (TA) qualifications do not meet the criteria for Qualified Practitioner rates. Compliance (The 2025 Standard): To be counted in nursery ratios you must hold a Full Paediatric First Aid (PFA) certificate. If you dont have one right you need to get one within 6 months.
