The Role
This is a senior role within the Analytics organisation responsible for building and leading a new cross-cutting capability that connects economic trade and regulatory policy and forward-looking scenario development to Fastmarkets commodity markets and benchmarks.
The Team Manager: Policy and Scenarios will shape a product portfolio spanning policy intelligence energy transition and cross-commodity scenarios. The role is accountable for developing commercially successful repeatable products that are relevant across Fastmarkets commodity verticals.
The role combines deep analytical capability with commercial judgement and external credibility. The successful candidate will speak with authority in their field comfortable representing Fastmarkets to clients at industry events and in the media while also building the internal frameworks and team that make cross-commodity policy and scenario analysis a sustainable scalable function.
Principal accountabilities
- Build and lead a cross-cutting policy scenarios and economic analysis capability that serves all Fastmarkets commodity verticals.
- Develop and own a portfolio of commercially viable repeatable analytics products in the areas of trade and regulatory policy intelligence energy transition and cross-commodity scenario analysis.
- Establish and maintain a consistent set of economic and policy scenarios and assumptions for use across Fastmarkets commodity forecasting teams improving coherence and quality of analytical outputs.
- Identify and communicate cross-commodity transmission effects from policy macro and geopolitical developments providing insights that individual commodity teams cannot produce independently.
- Apply microeconomic and competition frameworks to commodity market analysis including market structure pricing dynamics trade distortions and regulatory intervention.
- Define and execute the commercial strategy for the functions products working with Product and Commercial teams to ensure outputs are positioned effectively within Fastmarkets bundling architecture and contribute to revenue growth.
- Represent Fastmarkets externally as a thought leader on policy energy transition and scenario topics including client engagements conferences webinars and media.
- Support consulting activity by contributing to or leading engagements where policy scenario or economic expertise adds value.
- Build develop and manage a small team setting priorities maintaining quality standards and scaling the function in line with commercial traction.
- Collaborate effectively with commodity sector teams editorial product and commercial functions establishing clear interfaces and ways of working.
- Contribute to the broader Analytics transformation including new product development operating model design and strategic initiatives.

KNOWLEDGE EXPERIENCE AND SKILLS
We are looking for an individual who is highly motivated driven and have a passion to be part of a fast-paced successful team. Being a strong team player is also important as well as someone who is happy to work flexibly.
- Deep understanding of how policy regulation and economic frameworks shape commodity markets including trade policy energy transition climate regulation and competition dynamics.
- Significant experience (8 years) in economic consulting policy advisory scenario development or strategy consulting within commodities energy or related sectors.
- Track record of designing and building analytical offerings or practices from the ground up whether within a consulting firm policy institution or commercial analytics provider.
- Experience in energy transition policy analysis including climate scenarios green commodities or decarbonisation pathways with the ability to connect these to commodity market fundamentals.
- Strong grounding in microeconomic and competition analysis including market structure pricing behaviour trade distortions and the impact of regulatory intervention on market outcomes.
- Experience working across multiple commodity markets or sectors with the ability to identify cross-market linkages and second-order effects.
- Strong commercial awareness with an understanding of how analytical products create and capture value.
- Excellent communication and presentation skills with a track record of representing an organisation to senior external audiences including institutional investors policymakers or C-suite clients.
- Experience leading or building small analytical teams including setting direction maintaining quality and developing people.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced global environment working effectively across functions.
