PMLD Support Assistant - What the Role Involves

• Providing dedicated 1:1 personal care communication support and learning assistance to pupils with profound and multiple learning difficulties throughout the school day
• Implementing strategies outlined in pupils Education Health and Care Plans under the guidance of teachers and the wider MDT
• Supporting pupils to engage with sensory creative and functional learning activities tailored to their individual needs and communication profiles
• Assisting with personal care moving and handling and daily living activities with sensitivity professionalism and respect
• Maintaining detailed records of pupil responses progress and wellbeing to contribute to wider MDT planning and EHCP reviews

PMLD Support Assistant - What the School is Looking For

The ideal PMLD Support Assistant will hold a 2:1 or 1st Class degree from a top 30 UK university or a relevant health education or social care qualification. Previous experience supporting individuals with complex needs PMLD or profound disabilities in a UK school or care setting is highly valued. The school is seeking a patient physically resilient and deeply compassionate PMLD Support Assistant with a genuine vocation for working with some of the most vulnerable young people in our education system.

PMLD Support Assistant - Salary and Contract Info

• 444 per week pro rata to term time only
• Full-time long-term contract from September 2026 to July 2027
• Term-time only
• Potential for extended contracts or further professional development pathways following a successful placement
