Planning Technician

We are working closely alongside a Local Authority in Lewisham to assist with the appointment of a Planning Technician on a6.5-month contract highly likely to be extended at clients discretion. Please apply with your CV for immediate consideration.

Rate of Pay: 19.55 - 25.79 per hour

Summary:

The Planning Technician will provide technical and administrative support across the Planning Service with a particular focus on registering and validating planning applications managing planning documentation administering customer-facing services and supporting Local Land Charges processes.

Responsibilities:

• Register and process a wide range of planning applications ensuring documentation is accurately indexed published and redacted where necessary in line with GDPR requirements.
• Maintain electronic and paper-based document management systems including archiving retrieval of historic records and records management activities.
• Validate planning applications and undertake consultation processes with neighbours elected members and statutory consultees.
• Manage planning service email inboxes responding to enquiries providing information signposting customers and escalating complex matters as appropriate.
• Administer the Duty Planner and Pre-Application services including appointment scheduling document preparation payment processing and customer liaison.
• Promote chargeable planning services to maximise service uptake and income generation.

Essentials:

• Experience providing administrative or technical support within a planning local government or regulatory environment.
• Strong customer service experience dealing with a diverse range of stakeholders.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Experience managing high-volume email inboxes and responding to customer enquiries.
• Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines.
