Planner
Job Summary
- Oversee a diverse range of planning applications including:
- Householder applications
- Prior Approval applications
- Lawful Development Certificates
- Change of Use applications
- Minor developments
- Pre-application enquiries
- Householder applications
- Draft comprehensive officer reports and recommendations.
- Make determinations on applications under delegated authority when suitable.
- Offer pre-application advice to applicants and developers.
- Present applications at Planning Committee meetings.
- Lead smaller planning appeals including written representations.
- Conduct planning site visits as necessary.
- Coordinate with statutory and non-statutory consultees.
- Address inquiries from residents councillors developers agents and stakeholders.
- Apply and interpret planning legislation policies and guidance.
- Achieve performance targets and meet statutory deadlines.
- Contribute to the efficient delivery of Development Management services.
- Experience in Development Management or a Planning environment.
- Proficient knowledge of planning legislation and policy.
- Proven experience in processing planning applications.
- Skilled in researching analyzing and interpreting planning information.
- Strong report writing and communication abilities.
- Capable of managing competing priorities and meeting deadlines.
- Experience presenting information to diverse stakeholders.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively.
- Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Competence in interpreting technical plans and supporting documents.
- Degree in Planning or a related field such as:
- Town Planning
- Urban Design
- Architecture
- Town Planning
- MRTPI Membership or eligibility for membership.
- Experience in Local Authority Planning.
- Participation in Planning Committees.
- Handling planning appeals.
- Providing pre-application advice.
- 32.68 per hour (Umbrella)
- 4-Month Contract
- Hybrid Working (2 Days in Office / 3 Days Remote)

Required Skills:
Essential Requirements Experience working within Development Management or a Planning environment. Knowledge of planning legislation and planning policy. Experience processing planning applications. Experience researching analysing and interpreting planning information. Strong report writing and communication skills. Ability to manage competing priorities and meet deadlines. Experience presenting information to a range of stakeholders. Ability to work independently and as part of a team. Strong organisational skills and attention to detail. Ability to interpret technical plans and supporting documents. Qualifications Degree in Planning or a related discipline such as: Town Planning Urban Design Architecture MRTPI Membership or eligibility for membership. Desirable Experience Local Authority Planning experience. Experience attending Planning Committees. Experience dealing with planning appeals. Experience providing pre-application advice.
