Role Purpose:

  • The Human Performance team is looking for a PhysiologyorBiomedicalSciencerelatedgraduate to join individual willcontribute to a broad range of research projectstohelp understandhazards faced bymilitarypersonnelin theairlandand sea domainsand toidentifyand assesssolutions tomaximise personnel performance andensure willbe primarilyinthe air domainand will include assessment of physiological responsesinthis environment for example high altitude(inaircraft) sustained acceleration(in fast jets)andhot and cold environmental conditions (inaircraftandduring survival situations) of this work is undertaken fordefence and security customers.

  • The role requires individuals to work as part of amulti-disciplinaryteam to answer customer questions by undertaking researchtest and evaluation of equipment and analysis of available data to deliver evidence-based recommendations and advice.

  • The successful applicant willbe requiredtohelp design runanalyseand reporttrials includingvolunteer participant berequiredthrough both documentation and presentation.

Key Accountabilities:

  • Takesresponsibility for theiractions andperformance andknowswhen to ask for help or to escalate issues.

  • Able to deliverhigh qualityoutputswithinagreedtimescales.

  • Ableto carry out routine tasks with minimal support following relevant training.

Key Capabilities/Knowledge:

  • Ability to work collaboratively in multi-disciplinary teams communicating and applyingknowledge effectively.
  • Ability to managea range ofsimultaneous tasks.
  • Good written skillsand ability to tailor information to meet the needs of different audiences (e.g. colleaguesandcustomers).
  • Awareness of health & safety issues in research environments and a willingness to raise anysafetyconcerns with team members or relevant individuals.
  • Awarenessof research ethics andthe importance of ethical reviews.

Academic requirements:

You will need to have obtained or are about to obtainaminimum of aBachelorof Sciencedegree with a key focus on any of the disciplines listed below:

  • Aviation Physiology

  • Human Physiology

  • Sports Science

  • BiomedicalScience

Additional skills and experience:

It would be desirable(but notessential)that you have skills qualifications (including degree modules) or experience in one or more of the following areas:

  • Humanexperimentaldesign

  • Physiological data collection

  • Statistics

  • Codingapplied to data analysis

  • Anthropometry

  • Human Factors

Additionally you should have an enquiring mind and be willing to learn at pace.

You should hold a driving licence as trials can take place at a number of UK locations (generally the trial team travels together in a hire car with individuals sharing the driving).
