You would be joining a well-established Science department within an Independent School where Physics is taught through a combination of rigorous academic study practical investigation and real-world application.
At Key Stage 3 students develop their understanding of forces energy electricity waves space and the fundamental principles of physical science. Lessons are designed to build confidence while encouraging students to ask questions investigate ideas and explain their reasoning.
At GCSE students progress to more advanced topics including energy forces electricity particle models atomic structure waves magnetism and radioactivity. Practical investigation forms an important part of the curriculum with students expected to interpret results evaluate methods and apply their understanding to unfamiliar situations.
At A-Level students are challenged to develop more sophisticated mathematical and analytical skills across mechanics materials electricity waves fields and particle physics. The course provides excellent preparation for students considering university study and careers in Engineering Physics Medicine Technology and other STEM-related areas.
The department benefits from well-equipped laboratories and dedicated technical support. Students have regular opportunities to undertake practical work participate in STEM enrichment and engage with university and industry opportunities.
The successful teacher will be encouraged to contribute to the wider life of the department through science clubs competitions educational visits and enrichment activities. There is also scope to contribute to curriculum development and support students with applications to competitive university courses.

Physics Degree
QTS
Experience teaching Physics at secondary level
Strong theoretical and practical subject knowledge
GCSE Physics experience essential
A-Level Physics experience desirable
Strong mathematical and analytical skills
Excellent classroom management
Ability to challenge high-achieving students
Strong communication and organisational skills
Commitment to student achievement and inclusion
The salary for this Physics Teacher position will be paid to scale on a contract to scale MPS/UPS.
