Performance Sports Manager
Job Summary
Role:Performance Sports Manager (Maternity Cover).
Grade and Salary: Grade 7 (37694 - 47389).
FTE and working pattern: 1 FTE (full-time - 35 hours per week) for one year.

Purpose of Role
The Performance Manager will lead the Performance Department to ensure high quality delivery across all our services with a high duty of care to our athletes. They will be responsible for the overall running of the department delivery of financial and performance targets maximising the staff team and creating/ maintaining a positive multi-disciplinary team culture.
Key Duties & Responsibilities
- Oversee the operation of all sports scholarships (squash football handball & multi-sport scholars).
- Provide leadership and management across the department including:
Directly line manage department staff including the Lead Sport Scientist Squash Head Coach Football Head Coach and Athlete Lifestyle & Performance Coordinator.
Oversee the full staff team and ensure they are operating as a high-performing multidisciplinary team.
- Coordinateexternal& academicservicecontracts.
- Plananddeliver sport science services including but not limited to;education workshopstestinggym-basedS&C sessions conditioning based sessionsrehab-basedsession and recoverysessions.
- Oversee and delivervarious servicesto the Sport & Exercise Science academic programme such asapplied teachingplacementsand dissertationco-supervision.
- Manage allhealth & safety/compliance within the PerformanceSportdepartment.
- Oversee the finances of the departmentmeeting agreed commercial targets managing payrolland overheadsand staying within scholarshipbudget.
- Contribute to Sport & Health testing while also ensuring good collaboration with Oriam Clinic.
- Contribute to wider sport & active well-being strategyat Heriot-Watt.
- Lead on performance education targeted at scholars but also wideraudiences.
Essential & Desirable Criteria
Essential
- Educated to degree inSport Science at undergraduatelevel.
- Experience ofprovidinga range of sports science services forathleteswithin a similarperformanceenvironment as outlined abovefor at least5years.
- Ability to coach motivateassessand manage a team including settingteam & individualobjectives.
- Experience working within a multi-disciplinaryteam.
- Demonstrable professional and proactive approach.
- Abilityto develop relationships with a range of stakeholdersandclients.
- Excellentcommunicationinterpersonal influencing and presentationskills.
- High level organisational skills with the ability to prioritise and to function effectively in time pressured/ agileenvironment.
- Competent in the use of relevant IT packages.
- Demonstrable excellent customer service.
Desirable
- UKSCAAccredited (or able to complete within the first 6 months).
- Educated tomasterslevel in a relevantdiscipline.
- Experienceofdeveloping new business/business retention.
- Experience of deliveringphysiological tests.
