We are delighted to be supporting a well-established professional services firm with the recruitment of a Payroll Assistant to join their busy payroll team.
This is an excellent opportunity to work with a varied client portfolio and play an important role in delivering accurate timely payroll services.
The Opportunity
We are looking for a part-time or full-time Payroll Assistant to take responsibility for their own list of clients processing payroll from start to finish.
The role would suit someone with a minimum of two years experience within a payroll team ideally gained within a professional firm. You will be confident managing deadlines maintaining client relationships and ensuring payroll is processed accurately and in line with current legislation.
Key Responsibilities
Prepare weekly fortnightly monthly and annual payrolls for a wide variety of clients covering all aspects of the payroll process.
Process payroll end to end ensuring accuracy compliance and timely completion across your own client portfolio.
Apply a strong understanding of payroll legislation including tax codes National Insurance statutory payments and pension schemes including Auto-Enrolment.
Complete payroll reconciliations reporting and associated administrative tasks.
Maintain accurate records and ensure all payroll information is handled confidentially and professionally.
Develop and maintain positive client contact and relationships responding to queries clearly and efficiently.
Work closely with colleagues across the payroll team to support service delivery and meet strict deadlines.
Candidate Profile
Essential Skills & Experience
Minimum of two years experience working within a payroll team ideally within a professional services firm.
Strong knowledge of payroll legislation tax codes National Insurance statutory payments and pension schemes.
Experience of payroll reconciliation reporting and end-to-end payroll processing.
High attention to detail with strong organisational skills and the ability to manage competing deadlines.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills with confidence liaising directly with clients.
Strong IT skills particularly Microsoft Excel.
Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively as part of a team.
Desirable
Experience using Pay Circle and Iris Payroll Professional (Star) payroll software
Previous experience managing payroll for a varied client portfolio.
Experience working within an accountancy or professional services environment.
