Join One YMCA as an Accommodation Night Worker and play a vital role in creating a safe welcoming environment for 1830 year-olds.
Working overnight youll ensure the safety and security of our housing services while offering reassurance and support to residents facing challenges such as homelessness mental health issues or difficult life transitions. Your presence will bring stability during the night helping young people feel safe and supported as they work towards brighter futures
As a Night Worker youll be a key presence in the building overnight ensuring the safety wellbeing and comfort of our residents. Youll respond to incidents offer practical support and help maintain a peaceful respectful atmosphere. Your work will directly contribute to helping young people feel secure supported and empowered to thrive.
We are seeking compassionate dedicated individuals with:
Experience of working with young people with complex needs although not necessarily in a housing context
Strong interpersonal skills able to build rapport and engage with a diverse range of individuals
Good organisational abilities capable of managing a range of tasks while remaining calm under pressure
Excellent communication skills and the ability to collaborate as part of a team
A positive confident approach to managing challenging behaviour
A solid understanding of current mental health issues and the ability to support young people in a sensitive empathetic manner.
This is a waking night role meaning youll be actively involved and present throughout your shift rather than a traditional night worker role where rest periods might be expected. As a Supported Housing Officer (Nights) youll be working in a house / hostel setting helping to ensure the safety security and wellbeing of our residents and the site itself. Many of the people we support face complex challenges such as homelessness mental health issues or substance use. Your calm and supportive presence will make a real difference overnight responding to situations as they arise monitoring the security of the building and helping to maintain a safe welcoming environment for everyone.

Working Pattern: 4 x 12-Hour Shifts per Week (Rotating Rota)

One YMCA and its subsidiaries the Early Childhood Partnership (ECP) and Signpost are on an exciting journey to double our impact by 2025. - Community HUBs hosting a range of activities and meeting space hire
- Childcare provision in Hertfordshire
- Family support through a network of childrens and family centres covering Hertfordshire and Bedford
- Therapeutic and non-therapeutic support for male and female victims of domestic abuse and their children
- Independent sexual violence services across Bedfordshire Luton and Hertfordshire
- Domestic abuse perpetrator reform programmes across Bedfordshire
- Youth services offering emotional wellbeing support and youth club opportunities for 11-19 year olds alongside our National Airplay programme funded by the RAF Benevolent Fund
