Music Teaching Role in an Outstanding Secondary School

An outstanding secondary school in Nottingham is seeking to appoint a Music Teacher to join its Performing Arts department from September. This is a full-time role within a high-performing and supportive school that values creativity performance and high-quality teaching.

Music is a highly regarded subject within the school with students encouraged to develop their performance composition listening and analytical skills while exploring a wide range of musical styles and traditions.


About the Role

You will teach Music across Key Stage 3 Key Stage 4 and Key Stage 5 delivering engaging lessons that inspire creativity confidence and musical understanding.

Students will develop practical and theoretical skills through performance composition music technology and listening activities while gaining an appreciation of different genres cultures and historical periods.

You will prepare students for GCSE and A-Level Music examinations supporting them in building strong performance composition and analytical skills.

You will also contribute to the wider musical life of the school through concerts ensembles productions and enrichment activities.


Key Responsibilities
  • Teach Music across KS3 KS4 and KS5

  • Deliver engaging lessons in performance composition and music theory

  • Prepare students for GCSE and A-Level Music examinations

  • Assess student work and provide clear constructive feedback

  • Lead or support extracurricular music activities and performances

  • Contribute to curriculum planning and departmental development

  • Support concerts productions and musical events

  • Maintain high standards of classroom behaviour and engagement

Candidate Requirements

Essential Requirements

  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS)

  • Experience teaching Music at secondary level

  • Ability to teach KS3 and KS4 confidently

  • Strong subject knowledge in Music

  • Strong classroom management and communication skills

Desirable

  • Experience teaching A-Level Music

  • Ability to lead choirs bands orchestras or ensembles

  • Experience preparing students for GCSE and A-Level examinations

  • Knowledge of music technology and recording software
