An independent school in Derby is seeking to appoint a talented and enthusiastic Music Teacher to join its successful Performing Arts department from September. This is a full-time role within a nurturing and academically ambitious school that values creativity performance and exceptional teaching.

Music is a highly regarded subject within the school with students encouraged to develop performance skills creativity musical understanding and confidence through a broad and engaging curriculum.

You will teach Music across Key Stage 3 Key Stage 4 and Key Stage 5 delivering engaging and inspiring lessons that foster creativity musical appreciation and technical development.

Students will study performance composition listening music theory and music technology while exploring a wide range of genres styles and historical influences.

You will prepare students for GCSE and A-Level Music examinations supporting them in achieving excellent outcomes while encouraging participation in concerts productions ensembles and extracurricular music opportunities.

You will work collaboratively within a successful Performing Arts department while benefiting from smaller class sizes specialist facilities and a strong focus on personalised learning.

• Teach Music across KS3 KS4 and KS5

• Deliver engaging practical and theory-based Music lessons

• Prepare students for GCSE and A-Level Music examinations

• Support performance composition and musical development

• Lead or contribute to choirs ensembles concerts and productions

• Assess student work and provide constructive feedback

• Contribute to curriculum planning and departmental development

• Maintain high standards of classroom engagement and achievement

Essential Requirements

• Qualified Teacher Status (QTS)

• Experience teaching Music at secondary level

• Ability to teach KS3 and KS4 confidently

• Strong subject knowledge in Music performance and theory

• Strong classroom management and communication skills

Desirable

• Experience teaching A-Level Music

• Experience working in an independent school setting

• Ability to lead extracurricular music activities or ensembles

• Experience with music technology or composition software
