About our client
Our client is an award-winning architect-led design and build practice specialising in high-quality private residential renovations and home transformations across North and East London.
As a RIBA Chartered Practice and active contributor to the Federation of Master Builders the company combines architectural design excellence with construction delivery - challenging the traditional separation between design and build.
You will spend most of your time on site creating exceptional homes for private clients across London whilst maintaining quality standards and helping keep projects running safely efficiently and on programme.
You will work under the working foreman whilst also being in communication with inhouse Architects and Site Managers while remaining actively involved in the build. For this role we are looking for a skilled carpenter ideally with bricklaying experience. This role also comes with a very clear progression path leading to Working Foreman to Site Manager to Site Team Leader and finally to Director. This role will really suit someone who is looking to progress their career.
Key duties
General building work across refurbishments extensions and retrofit projects including some labour intensive activities
First and second fix carpentry tasks
General building work across refurbishments extensions and retrofit projects including some labour intensive activities
Site setup protection works temporary works support loading clearing and end-of-day organisation
Measuring cutting fixing forming making good and other practical site tasks.
Supporting brickwork blockwork plasterboarding insulation flooring decorating preparation and snagging
Reading drawings specifications and marked-up instructions with support from the Working Foreman
Keeping tools materials access routes and working areas clean safe and organised
Taking site photos every day and logging those as well as your timesheets and giving simple progress updates when asked
Move between our building sites to support fellow teams when needed
Requirements
At least 3 to 5 years UK residential construction experience
A practical trade background ideally carpentry or bricklaying led
Experience on London home extensions loft conversions refurbishments or retrofit projects
Basic brickwork blockwork plasterboarding tiling decorating or general making-good skills
Comfortable working across several building tasks on domestic refurbishment and extension sites
Strong ability in first fix and standards - able to carry out by yourself and Good basic understanding of second fix able to do working with others skilled in this area
CSCS Card and Full UK license
NVQ City and Guilds or equivalent trade qualifcation
