Job Title : Mortuary andTransfer Specialist
Salary: 31000.00 per annum
Location: York
Hours: 40 hours per week (with flexible shift patterns to accommodate long-distance transfer windows)

Job purpose
The role of Mortuary and Transfer Specialist is essential to facilitate frontline mortuary care and execute the dignified safe transfer of deceased clients between locations. Blending logistics co-ordination with the deeply sensitive requirements of deceased care this role ensures a highly dignified service seamless transit operations and absolute regulatory compliance.
Key Responsibilities
1. Frontline Mortuary Care andClient Preparation
- Take full responsibility for the dignified care handling and preparation of the deceased for cremation ensuring the highest standards are consistently maintained.
- Ensure clients are placed in the correct size coffins and complete all essential workflows.
- Remove harmful implants such as pacemakers and any materials unsuitable for cremation verifying removals both visually and via a metal detector.
- Prepare repatriated clients for cremation and arrange the safe disposal of associated zinc linings in accordance with company policy.
- Catalogue record and secure all personal effects and jewellery while updating the mortuary register.
- Prepare and place nameplates on coffins for clients where families have selected an attended service.
2. Long-Distance Logistics andDeceased Transit
- Safely and respectfully transfer of deceased clients resting in our care.
- Receive ashes following cremation ensure tracking is accurate and plan or lay out return items for the Ashes Return team.
- Act as a Brand Ambassador for the company ensuring all transit and collection activities reflect the company in a positive way.
3. Identity Verification andDigital Body Tracking
- Conduct rigorous identification checks immediately upon receipt of a client into care accurately checking legal paperwork and internal systems.
- Ensure absolute verification of the deceaseds identity before conducting any removal or transport operation.
- Maintain 100% compliance with the Body Tracking Application scanning QR codes to record detailed progress at every operational stage.
- Allocate mortuary bays using dedicated bay allocation technology to register exact resting locations.
- Record information in an accurate way processing all associated documentation in a methodical and compliant manner.
4. Clinical Housekeeping andFleet Maintenance
- Ensure that the mortuary is clean safe sterile and secure always strictly preventing any unauthorised access.
- Always adhere to appropriate clinical waste and infection control protocols to maintain sterile environments.
- Maintain company vehicles in a clean presentable and roadworthy condition. Conducting mandatory pre and post-drive safety checks.
- Promptly log and report vehicle defects or routine maintenance needs to the Fleet Coordinator or Line Manager.
- Adhere strictly to driver company rules regarding speed limits manual handling lone working and driving with courtesy.
Candidate Profile
Experience andQualifications
- Compliance Record: Proven experience keeping accurate records and working in accordance with detailed compliance procedures.
- Sector Familiarity: Practical experience operating within a funeral private ambulance medical logistics or healthcare environment.
- Driving Licence: Full valid UK manual driving licence with a commitment to driving within the law and remaining courteous to other road users.
