Job Summary

CORE PURPOSE

We are seeking an articulate analytical and inspiring Maths Teacher to deliver high-quality mathematics instruction across Key Stage 3 and Key Stage 4 (with opportunities for Key Stage 5 A-Level Mathematics delivery depending on candidate experience). Working within a well-resourced Mathematics department the successful candidate will foster mathematical fluency cultivate problem-solving confidence and prepare students of all attainment levels to excel in GCSE Mathematics and functional numeracy.

KEY TASKS & DAILY OPERATIONS
  • Curriculum Delivery: Plan and deliver engaging structured mathematics lessons across Key Stages 3 and 4 (Edexcel/AQA GCSE Mathematics specifications) developing pupils fluency reasoning and problem-solving skills across algebra geometry statistics and number work.

  • Post-16 Provision (Optional): Contribute to Key Stage 5 A-Level Mathematics or Level 3 Core Maths delivery where applicable supporting students aiming for STEM and quantitative degree pathways.

  • Diagnostic Assessment & Intervention: Conduct regular formative and summative assessments analyse pupil performance data and implement targeted academic interventions to close attainment gaps ahead of terminal examinations.

  • Mathematical Extension & Co-Curricular: Support departmental extension initiatives including entering pupils into national competitions such as the UKMT Mathematical Challenge and running after-school maths revision hubs.

  • Pastoral Responsibilities: Serve as a dedicated Form Tutor supporting pupils personal welfare academic progress and character development within the schools supportive pastoral structure.

PROFILE REQUIREMENTS
  • Qualifications: Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or QTLS with a degree in Mathematics Statistics Engineering or a closely related quantitative discipline. Early Career Teachers (ECTs) and experienced secondary practitioners are equally encouraged to apply.

  • Experience: Proven experience teaching Mathematics across Key Stage 3 and Key Stage 4 within a UK mainstream secondary school or academy setting.

  • Skills: Strong subject knowledge excellent classroom management clear explanations of complex mathematical concepts and the ability to inspire and build confidence in students across the full ability spectrum.
