Maths Teaching Role in a Mixed Comprehensive School

A mixed comprehensive school in Northampton is seeking to appoint a Maths Teacher to join its department from September. This is a full-time role within a supportive and inclusive school that is committed to improving outcomes and raising attainment across all ability ranges.

Mathematics is a core subject within the school with students developing confidence in number algebra geometry statistics and higher-level problem solving.


About the Role

You will teach Mathematics across Key Stage 3 Key Stage 4 and Key Stage 5 delivering well-structured lessons that support both foundation and higher-tier students.

The role includes preparing students for GCSE and A-Level Mathematics with a strong focus on exam technique fluency and reasoning skills.

You will differentiate effectively to support mixed-ability groups while also challenging higher-attaining students through extension work.

You will contribute to a collaborative Maths department focused on improving progress and attainment.


Key Responsibilities
  • Teach Mathematics across KS3 KS4 and KS5

  • Deliver clear and structured Maths lessons

  • Prepare students for GCSE and A-Level examinations

  • Track assess and report student progress

  • Support intervention and enrichment activities

  • Contribute to curriculum planning and resources

  • Maintain strong classroom management and engagement

  • Work collaboratively within the Maths department

Candidate Requirements

Essential Requirements

  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS)

  • Experience teaching Mathematics at secondary level

  • Ability to teach KS3 and KS4 confidently

  • Strong subject knowledge and classroom management skills

Desirable

  • Experience teaching A-Level Mathematics

  • Experience with mixed-ability teaching

  • Experience supporting intervention and exam preparation
