Location: Cornwall

Salary: Competitive dependent on experience

Were currently recruiting on behalf of a well-established marine engineering business based on the South Cornwall coast. Due to continued growth they are looking to appoint an experienced Marine Engineer to join their friendly and skilled engineering team.

This is an excellent opportunity for someone with a strong background in marine engineering who enjoys working on a variety of leisure and small commercial vessels. Youll be responsible for carrying out servicing maintenance diagnostics and repairs ensuring customers receive a high standard of workmanship and service.

The Role

As a Marine Engineer your responsibilities will include:

  • Servicing maintaining and repairing inboard and outboard engines.
  • Diagnosing and rectifying mechanical and electrical faults on a range of marine engines and onboard systems.
  • Installing commissioning and maintaining marine equipment.
  • Carrying out sea trials following repairs where required (training can be provided if necessary).
  • Working both within the workshop and at local customer locations.
  • Liaising with customers and colleagues to provide technical advice and updates on repairs.
  • Maintaining accurate service records and ensuring work is completed to a high standard.
  • Keeping up to date with new products equipment and manufacturer training.
  • Working safely at all times and following all company Health & Safety procedures.

About You

To be successful in this role you will have:

  • A minimum of 3 years experience as a Marine Engineer or in a similar marine engineering environment.
  • Strong mechanical and electrical fault-finding skills.
  • Experience working on inboard and outboard engines.
  • A proactive approach to problem solving and excellent attention to detail.
  • The ability to work independently and as part of a close-knit engineering team.
  • Excellent communication and customer service skills.
  • A full UK Driving Licence.

Desirable Experience

Experience working with leading marine engine manufacturers such as Yanmar Suzuki Vetus Volvo Penta Mercury Yamaha or similar would be highly advantageous although not essential.
