Job Summary

Were currently working with an Outstanding secondary school in Enfield that is looking to appoint an experienced Attendance Officer to join its pastoral and administration team from October 2026.

This is an important role within the school working closely with students parents pastoral staff and senior leaders to monitor attendance and identify where additional support may be needed.

If youre organised confident speaking with families and comfortable working with attendance data this could be a great opportunity to consider.

The Role

Youll be responsible for the day-to-day management of attendance across the school making sure concerns are picked up quickly and followed through appropriately.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Monitoring daily attendance and punctuality

  • Following up unexplained and persistent absences

  • Contacting parents and carers regarding attendance concerns

  • Identifying patterns and trends within attendance data

  • Maintaining accurate attendance records and systems

  • Supporting attendance interventions and improvement plans

  • Working closely with pastoral staff and senior leaders

  • Arranging and supporting attendance meetings

  • Producing attendance reports and providing relevant information

  • Recording communication and actions taken with families

  • Supporting strategies to improve overall attendance

  • Following school attendance and safeguarding procedures

Who Were Looking For

The school would ideally like to hear from someone with previous experience as an Attendance Officer within a school setting.

Relevant experience in school administration pastoral support family liaison or education may also be considered.

Youll need to be confident communicating with parents and students comfortable handling data and able to have sometimes challenging conversations professionally.

Strong organisation persistence and attention to detail are essential along with the ability to manage your own workload and follow issues through.
