Job Summary

Maintenance Manager

As Maintenance Manager you will be responsible for ensuring the hotels facilities equipment and infrastructure are maintained to the highest standards providing a safe comfortable and well-presented environment for guests and employees. You will lead the maintenance team oversee daily operations manage preventative maintenance programmes drive sustainability and energy-efficiency initiatives and ensure full compliance with health and safety requirements while supporting the overall operational success of the hotel.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead motivate and develop the maintenance team through effective coaching training and performance management.
  • Plan and manage team rotas to ensure appropriate coverage across all shifts weekends and holiday periods.
  • Oversee the completion of planned preventative maintenance schedules and reactive repairs.
  • Ensure all hotel plant machinery equipment and guest facilities are operating efficiently and safely.
  • Manage contractor relationships ensuring external works are completed to agreed standards and within budget.
  • Monitor maintenance costs control departmental expenditure and support budget planning.
  • Drive sustainability initiatives and energy-management programmes identifying opportunities to reduce utility consumption improve operational efficiency and support environmental objectives.
  • Monitor energy usage and implement measures to optimise performance across heating ventilation air conditioning lighting and water systems.
  • Ensure full compliance with health and safety legislation fire safety regulations and company policies.
  • Conduct regular property inspections identifying maintenance needs and implementing corrective actions promptly.
  • Support refurbishment projects capital expenditure plans and continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Maintain accurate maintenance records compliance documentation energy-monitoring data and statutory certifications.
  • Collaborate closely with all hotel departments to minimise operational disruption and maximise guest satisfaction.
  • Respond promptly to emergency maintenance issues and provide practical solutions to operational challenges.

The ideal candidate will be a hands-on leader with strong technical knowledge excellent organisational skills and a proactive approach to team development sustainability problem-solving and maintaining high operational standards.


Qualifications :

Qualifications & Experience

  • Proven experience in a Maintenance Manager or senior maintenance leadership role.
  • Relevant qualification in Engineering Electrical Mechanical Building Services or a related field.
  • Strong knowledge of building systems including HVAC electrical plumbing and fire safety.
  • Experience managing maintenance teams including rota planning and staff development.
  • Good understanding of health & safety legislation and statutory compliance requirements.
  • Experience managing contractors and supplier relationships.
  • Strong budgeting cost-control and project management skills.
  • Experience driving sustainability and energy-efficiency initiatives.
  • Proficiency in maintenance management systems and Microsoft Office applications.
  • Excellent organisational communication and problem-solving skills.
