Job Summary

An Outstanding secondary school in Bath is looking to appoint a Religious Studies ECT from September 2026 to join its high-achieving and supportive Humanities department. This would be on a full-time and permanent basis.

This is a school where Religious Studies is highly valued both academically and as a subject that encourages students to explore beliefs ethics philosophy and different worldviews while developing respect empathy and critical thinking. The department is well-resourced collaborative and ambitious with students who are curious thoughtful and eager to engage in discussion and debate.

The school is looking for a Religious Studies ECT who can bring enthusiasm strong subject knowledge and a genuine passion for teaching into the classroom. You will be joining a team committed to delivering engaging lessons and helping students develop confidence in discussion analytical thinking and the ability to evaluate different perspectives and ideas.

The Role

You will teach Religious Studies across KS3 and KS4 with opportunities to contribute to KS5 for the right candidate. Lessons should be engaging challenging and inclusive encouraging students to think critically about religion philosophy ethics and contemporary issues while developing strong written analytical and evaluative skills.

The department has a strong culture of collaboration with teachers regularly sharing ideas resources and best practice. There will also be opportunities to contribute to enrichment activities such as debate clubs philosophy discussions trips intervention programmes competitions and cross-curricular projects.

Students are well-behaved motivated and respond positively to teachers who are supportive knowledgeable and passionate about Religious Studies and Humanities.
