Job Summary

Somerset Studio School is a unique and small specialist Science Technology Engineering and Mathematics school with students pastoral care educational needs and personal future aspirations at its very heart. We have a small team of 24 staff and just 280 students on roll aged 14 to 19 years and we serve the communities of Radstock Frome Midsomer Norton and surrounding villages.

Somerset Studio School needs a very particular kind of staff. As with all educators they need to have a heartfelt commitment to challenging and supporting students to be the best they can be - however; they also need to be committed to 14 to 19 Education with an emphasis on developing young peoples skills through a predominantly applied learning curriculum ready for employment. For example at Sixth Form we offer Engineering Health and Education Creative Media Legal Management and Digital T Levels - full time level 3 courses with work placements worth three A Levels developing the workforce of the future whilst securing outstanding life chances for our students.

Working in this relatively small school environment staff need to be resilient adaptable and to exhibit high levels of emotional literacy and initiative. These skills and attributes are key to all of this - a strong community bound by professional behaviours particularly honesty and self-reflection. Together our staff our students their parents & carers will collaborate to fulfil the schools unique vision and ethos. Risk-taking and creativity within the boundaries of the Trusts expectations are encouraged in order to meet childrens needs in this ever-changing world.

Somerset Studio School is part of the Midsomer Norton Schools Partnership and located on a large modern campus that benefits from exceptional facilities and a Community Sports Centre. This role is particularly vital to the schools unique vision: Special Educational Needs & Disabilities underpin the success students can make in the Somerset Studio curriculum both by supporting students to gain the academic qualifications they need to pursue their interests and in developing communication skills curiosity investigative skill and problem-solving preparing them for life.

Part Time - 25 hours per week
