Legal Counsel
Job Summary
We are looking for an ambitious and driven lawyer to join the UK and Ireland Legal Team based in our London office. This is an exciting opportunity for a qualified solicitor with 3 years post-qualification experience to develop their skills within a fast-growing multidisciplinary business.
The role offers genuine variety. The complexity and level of responsibility will grow as the successful candidate builds their knowledge and experience of the business.
Key responsibilities:
- Draft negotiate and advise on a broad range of commercial construction and engineering contracts entered by Egis subsidiaries in the UK with clients and suppliers. These will include consultancy and sub-consultancy agreements framework contracts NEC3 and NEC4 contracts engineering and construction contracts collateral warranties memoranda of understanding teaming agreements and deeds of novation
- Support the current UK corporate restructuring programme
- Support company secretarial matters including attending board meetings and drafting minutes and board resolutions
- Support debt recovery processes including drafting statutory demands and letters before claim under the Pre-Action Protocol for Construction and Engineering Disputes
- Support the management of the UK insurance certificate database
- Support litigation and dispute management coordinating with internal stakeholders and external legal counsel as required
- Support the implementation of UK and Group ethics and compliance programmes
- Liaise with external legal counsel when required in line with agreed policy and the budget set by the General Counsel
Qualifications :
Qualifications experience and knowledge:
- Minimum 2:1 law degree or equivalent qualification route including the SQE
- Qualified solicitor in England and Wales with 3 years PQE
- Essential experience drafting and advising on commercial construction and/or engineering contracts
- Training gained within a reputable private-practice law firm
- Previous in-house experience is preferred but is not essential
- An interest in legal technology and/or experience using AI tools to improve legal service delivery contract review matter management or legal processes
