Job Summary

We are seeking a Lecturer/Senior Lecturer in Physical Geography to design and deliver teaching content in the classroom and in the field across a range of modules within the Geography Subject area.

The successful candidate will be able to contribute to undergraduate teaching in geomorphology and earth systems as well as one or more of the following areas: coastal zone management river management research methods and design geographical information systems natural hazards

About the Role

The post holder will be expected to contribute to undergraduate teaching across Geography particularly in areas related to Physical Geography. This will include both in class teaching and fieldwork. There will be associated module administration such as assessment marking and feedback. The role also involves acting as an Academic Advisor to undergraduate students and supervising final year Dissertation projects.

There will also be involvement in the promotion and marketing of the Geography programme through recruitment events and outreach. The successful candidate will also undertake research activities and be a member of the Centre for Research on Science and Society. Geography staff are currently active members of three research clusters within the centre: Climate Hazards and Environmental Change Ecology Biodiversity and Conservation and Identities and Inequalities.

About You

We are looking for someone with recent successful experience of university teaching in core areas of Physical Geography and someone who understands the importance of providing students with an excellent learning experience throughout their studies. Ideally this would include experience of leading modules and designing innovative assessments. The successful candidate may be expected to participate in or lead international fieldtrips so experience with this would be useful.

Additional Information

Salary Grade Ac3S/Ac3A - Starting from 44746 rising to 56536 per annum

The salary range shows the potential maximum pay progression in addition to any annual inflationary increase to your pay. Please note that our default position is to appoint into the lower end of the range unless there are exceptional circumstances.
