Job Purpose

As an Leaving Care Personal Advisor you will provide practical emotional and statutory support to Care Leavers aged 18-25 helping them transition successfully into independent adulthood. You will manage a caseload of young people coordinate pathway plans promote independence and ensure access to accommodation education training employment benefits and support services.

Key Duties/Accountabilities
  • Manage a caseload of Care Leavers aged 18-25.
  • Develop review and implement Pathway Plans.
  • Support young people transitioning from care to independent living.
  • Provide advice regarding housing benefits employment education and training.
  • Carry out assessments and identify support needs.
  • Build positive relationships with young people and encourage engagement.
  • Work with unaccompanied asylum-seeking young people and care leavers.
  • Liaise with social workers carers housing providers education providers and external agencies.
  • Support young people to access appropriate services and resources.
  • Monitor progress and outcomes against agreed plans.
  • Maintain accurate case records and documentation.
  • Participate in duty work and respond to referrals.
  • Promote safeguarding equal opportunities and anti-discriminatory practice.
  • Prepare reports and maintain compliance with statutory requirements.
Essential Experience Required
  • Experience working with Care Leavers Looked After Children or vulnerable young people.
  • Experience managing caseloads.
  • Experience completing assessments support plans or pathway plans.
  • Experience supporting young people with education employment training housing or independent living.
  • Experience working within Childrens Services Leaving Care Services Youth Support Family Support Housing Support or Social Care.
  • Experience working collaboratively with multi-agency partners.
  • Strong report writing and record-keeping skills.
  • Good understanding of safeguarding and child welfare principles.
Essential Qualifications Required
  • Relevant experience within Social Care Youth Work Family Support Leaving Care or Childrens Services.
  • Enhanced DBS.
  • Ability to work in accordance with safeguarding procedures.
Additional Information to Note
  • Working hours: 36.5 hours per week.
  • Minimum 2 days per week office-based.
  • Location: One Avenue Road Aston Birmingham B6 4DU.
  • Team: 18 Unaccompanied Asylum Seeking Children Team.
  • DBS required.
  • Online interview scheduled for 25th September 2026.
  • We work on bi-weekly payment schedule.
