Our client is seeking a dedicated and compassionate Learning Support Assistant to join a specialist SEN school in Durham on a full-time permanent basis.

• Encouraging positive behaviour and supporting pupils with emotional regulation where required.

• Supporting pupils throughout the school day including during classroom activities and other school routines.

• Building positive trusting relationships with pupils while promoting their confidence and self-esteem.

• Working closely with teachers and other support staff to monitor progress and contribute to pupils development.

• Following individual support plans safeguarding procedures and school policies.

Ideally youll have:

• Previous experience supporting children or young people with special educational needs (SEN).

• Experience working in a SEN school mainstream school or another relevant educational or care setting.

• A patient empathetic and nurturing approach.

• A good understanding of additional learning needs and the challenges some pupils may face.

• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

• The ability to adapt to different situations and respond calmly and positively.

• A proactive attitude and the ability to work effectively as part of a team.

• A genuine passion for helping pupils develop their confidence independence and life skills.

• The right to work in the UK.

• An Enhanced DBS certificate or willingness to complete the required checks.
