The Team

Join ourReal-time MarketData team part of our Data Engineering organisationat the heart of a quantitative investment firm powering themarket datainfrastructure which drives our systematic trading strategies andcutting-edgediscretionary research.

As the lead of theteamyoullbearchitectinga multi-petabyte scale estate processing billions of datapoints daily from thousands of data sources. Our stack combines Java and Python with foundations of KafkaArcticDB MongoDB and is an opportunity to tackle complex distributed systems challenges at exceptional should have the enthusiasm forleveragingAI development tools to accelerate delivery and driving their adoption across the team.

Responsibilities

• Leading a team of 6 high-performing engineers fostering a culture of technical excellence collaboration and continuous improvement

• Setting the strategic direction of the team defining the technical roadmap and aligning it with broader Data Engineering and firm-wide objectives

• Remaining a hands-on engineer contributing directly to the codebase and leading by example on technical design and implementation

• Navigating commercial and technical conversations with external data vendors managing relationships and ensuring the firms data needs are met

• Partnering with internal stakeholders across systematic trading discretionary research and technology to translate requirements into successful delivery

• Driving the adoption of AI-assisted development tools across the team to accelerate delivery and raise engineering productivity

• Owning the operational excellence of a multi-petabyte low-latency market data platform processing billions of datapoints daily

Key Competencies

You will bea keenand self-motivatedhands-on engineeringmanager with experience in the market data a member of ahighly-focusedteam with an exceptionally broad responsibility sogreat communicationskills and an ability to work as part of a team area must.

• 8 years of professional experience in software engineering

• Experience with real-time market data feeds

• Experience running and deliveringcomplexprojects to an exceptionally high standard

• Deepknowledge of one or more relevant technologies such as IcebergKDB orKafka

• Expertisein distributed systems at scale

• Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail

• Strong communicationand collaboration abilities

• Experience with performance optimization and large-scale data processing

• Ability to turn stakeholder requirements into successful outcomes

• Embracing agentic engineering - willingness and ability to work effectively with AI-assisted development tools as part of daily workflow

• Strong academic record and a degree with high mathematicaland computing content e.g. Computer Science Mathematics Engineering or Physics

Advantageous

• Deepexpertisein Java and Python

• Proficient on Linux platforms and strong understanding of Git

• Contributions to open-source projects

• Experience working with Large Language Models (LLMs)
