Lead Anaesthetics Practitioner

Full Time - 37.5Hours Per Week

The role

We are looking for an experienced Anaesthetic Lead. As the Anaesthetic Lead you will be responsible for providing professional clinical and operational leadership for the anaesthetic team within the theatre department. You will ensure the delivery of safe effective high-quality perioperative care promote best practice support workforce development and contribute to the efficient utilisation of theatre services.

The Anaesthetic Lead will act as a clinical expert and role model working collaboratively with anaesthetists surgeons theatre practitioners recovery staff and senior management to ensure excellent patient outcomes and compliance with national standards and local policies.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide clinical leadership and support to the anaesthetic practitioner team promoting high standards of patient care and safety.

  • Coordinate the day-to-day delivery of anaesthetic services ensuring effective staffing theatre utilisation and operational efficiency.

  • Maintain compliance with professional standards policies and clinical governance requirements including audits and incident investigations.

  • Lead training competency assessments and professional development activities for anaesthetic practitioners and students.

  • Work collaboratively with consultant anaesthetists theatre teams and wider hospital stakeholders to support service improvement and positive patient outcomes.

  • Contribute to service development change initiatives and continuous quality improvement across the department.

What youll bring

  • Registered Operating Department Practitioner (HCPC) or Registered Nurse (NMC).

  • ILS/ALS certified.

  • Evidence of ongoing professional development (CPD).

  • Minimum 5 years experience in Anaesthetics including Senior or Lead-level experience.

  • Experience leading and coordinating teams within a theatre environment.

  • Experience of staff supervision mentoring and performance management.

  • Knowledge of clinical governance patient safety and quality improvement.
