Oak View Academy are looking to appoint acompassionate andpatient teachingassistant to start inSeptember 2026to provide learning supportto . Weare looking for a Level 3 qualified teaching assistant to join our team. Hours of work will be 08:30 to 15:30with 30 minutes for lunch working Mondayto Friday term time plus 6INSET days per year.

About the Role

The successful candidate willbe involved in supporting class teachers 1:1 work and small groupsof pupils withadditionalneeds. They willalso be able to deliverappropriate interventionprogrammes to individuals and groups. We would like a dynamic and creative teaching assistant who is willing to embracethe wider life of schooland work hard to positivelyimpactthe childrens mental and physical wellbeing whilst supporting their learning. We would also expect the successful applicant to support the class teacher. Experience delivering or supporting ELSA interventions and pastoral support programmeswould be an advantage.

The successful candidate will be an excellent classroom practitioner withhigh expectationsof themselves andthechildren. They will have the ability to work within a motivated team who are relishing the challenge of supporting individuals to achieve their personal best. If you have excellent management skills the experience to understand children withadditionalneeds and the desire to take on a new challenge you could be the person we need.

To join us and be successful you will need todemonstrate:

• NVQ3or equivalent.

• English andMathsGCSE GradeC/4or equivalent

• Experience working as a Teaching Assistant in a primary school setting.

• Aworkingunderstanding of attachment-aware and trauma-informed practice.

• Strong behaviour management skills with the ability to build positive trusting relationships with children.

• Experience supporting children withadditionalneeds including SEND.

• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills when working with pupilsstaffand families.

• The ability tomaintainconfidentiality and handle sensitive situations with professionalism and empathy.

• Good organisational skills includingmaintainingrecords of interventions and pupil progress.

• The ability to work collaboratively as part of a pastoral and inclusion team.

• A calmnurturingand patient approach.

• Be subject to an Enhanced DBS disclosure overseas policecheck (if applicable)health check and professional reference checks.

Desirable Criteria

• ELSA qualification or relevant pastoral support training.

• First Aid qualification.

• Experience working with external agencies and professionals.

• Knowledge of restorative practice.

• Experience supporting children with anxiety emotional regulationneedsor school-based avoidance.

Duties and responsibilities

The successful candidate will:

Classroom Support

• Support teaching and learning across the classroom under the direction of the class teacher.

• Work with individual pupils and small groups to reinforce learning and improve progress.

• Adapt learning activities and resources to meet the needs of pupils with SEND andadditionalneeds.

• Promote pupil engagementindependenceand confidence in learning.

• Assistwith classroom organisation preparation of resources and displays.

• Support pupils during lessonstransitionsand wider school activities.

• Supervise pupils during breaktimes lunchtimes educational visits and school events asrequired.

• Promote positive behaviour in line with the schools behaviour policy.

Pastoral and ELSA Support

• Deliver targeted ELSA interventions and emotional literacy programmes for individuals and small groups.

• Build positive nurturing relationships that support pupils emotional wellbeing and self-esteem.

• Support pupils to develop emotional regulation resilience socialskillsand confidence.
