Summary
- The Interim Insurance Manager is a pivotal role within a dynamic shared-service Insurance function providing expert leadership and technical guidance to support multiple local authorities and partner organizations. This position is crucial for managing complex insurance issues overseeing underwriting processes and engaging with stakeholders across partner councils. The role involves acting as a senior advisor to aid strategic decision-making on significant insurance risks market placements and contractual agreements ensuring cost-effectiveness and robust protection of assets and liabilities.
Responsibilities
- Spearhead the strategic development and execution of insurance services within a multi-authority shared service environment.
- Assist in crafting and implementing insurance programs and risk financing strategies.
- Align insurance services with organizational goals and customer expectations.
- Offer continuous support to the Head of Insurance and assume responsibilities during their absence.
- Represent the Insurance Service in both internal and external meetings as necessary.
- Provide expert advice on intricate insurance and underwriting issues.
- Serve as the primary escalation point for technical insurance challenges.
- Formulate practical solutions that consider organizational risk financial factors and market dynamics.
Requirements:
- Extensive experience in insurance management preferably within Local Government Public Sector or entities handling public authority risks.
- Proven track record in managing large-scale insurance programs including renewals tenders and policies with substantial deductibles and aggregate retentions.
- Significant experience in engaging with senior stakeholders and decision-makers.
- Expertise in leading complex negotiations with insurers and brokers.
- Proficiency in advising organizations on insurance strategy risk and financial impacts.
- Experience in managing high-risk high-value insurance matters.
Essential Qualifications
- Chartered Insurance Institute (CII) Diploma or Associate qualification.
- Degree or an equivalent higher-level qualification.
Additional Information
- Contract Duration: 4 months with potential for extension.
- Rate: 500 per day Umbrella.
- Working Hours: 37 hours per week.
- Hybrid role requiring office attendance for IT equipment collection and occasional business needs.
- Payment Schedule: Bi-weekly.
