The Insurance & Risk Management Analyst supports the execution of international insurance and risk management strategies for large-scale data centre development and operations. Based in London this role works closely with senior team members cross-functional partners local and global brokers insurers lender insurance advisors and other external stakeholders to support insurance placement policy administration claims coordination contract review project financing diligence and transitions from construction-stage insurance to operational property coverage.
Success in this role requires strong organisational project management communication and time-management skills in a fast-paced environment together with practical knowledge of international risk transfer mechanisms insurance programme design development insurance requirements and local compliance considerations.
Responsibilities other duties may be assigned:
Support day-to-day insurance and risk management activities for international real estate acquisitions leasing procurement financing transactions development projects and ongoing data centre operations.
Assist with the annual renewal process and international programme placements including completion and submission of applications disclosures underwriting information exposure data and documentation required to obtain or renew coverage.
Support administration of international construction and development insurance programmes including Construction All Risks delay in start-up third-party liability professional indemnity environmental cyber and other project-specific coverages.
Assist with enrollment of new projects into applicable construction insurance programmes and coordinate transitions from construction-stage coverage to operational property insurance at key project milestones.
Maintain the transition pipeline for development projects track target milestone dates and coordinate with internal and external stakeholders to support timely insurance actions.
Support international expansion initiatives by coordinating with local brokers insurers and advisors to address admitted insurance local policy premium tax regulatory and contractual insurance requirements.
Collaborate with internal teams such as Real Estate Programme Management Legal Finance Accounting Development EHS Procurement and Operations to support a coordinated approach to insurance management during the development cycle and ongoing operation of data centre assets.
Review and negotiate insurance provisions in contracts leases vendor agreements financing documents and related development documents escalating complex issues as needed and ensuring alignment with organisational risk appetite and international insurance market practices.
Support project financing diligence by coordinating with Capital Markets Legal Finance lender insurance advisors brokers insurers and other external partners to provide insurance information and resolve diligence requests within required timelines.
Coordinate underwriting engineering valuation exposure and loss-control information needed to support global property and development insurance programmes.
Assist with insurance claims experienced by the organisation including timely reporting documentation coordination with brokers and insurers status tracking and support for resolution and process improvement.
Maintain accurate insurance records policy documentation renewal materials project schedules insurance certificates evidence of coverage claims documentation and compliance tracking in applicable systems.
Stay current on international insurance market trends regulatory developments insurance products emerging risks and risk transfer solutions relevant to data centre development and operations.
Research evaluate and recommend insurance solutions that support business objectives growth initiatives development activity and efficient programme structure.
Develop and support training materials guidance and stakeholder communications regarding insurance requirements claims processes development insurance workflows and risk mitigation strategies.
Analyze and report on loss trends insurance metrics project milestones and insurance programme activity to support management reporting and strategic decision-making.
Coordinate with global and local brokers insurers adjusters engineers lender insurance advisors and third-party consultants to support effective programme administration coverage placement claims handling and cost efficiency
Basic Qualifications:
Bachelors degree or equivalent professional experience.
Three or more years of experience in insurance risk management brokerage underwriting claims construction real estate infrastructure or a related field.
Experience supporting international insurance placements development projects real estate transactions construction programmes or operational property insurance preferred.
Familiarity with environmental risk analysis and contractual risk transfer concepts.
Ability to work from London and collaborate across international time zones as needed.
Preferred Qualifications:
Professional insurance designation or progress toward a relevant designation such as CII ACII ARM CRIS CPCU or equivalent international credential.
Bachelors degree in real estate finance construction risk management insurance law engineering or another relevant discipline.
Knowledge of international real estate construction property liability professional indemnity environmental cyber and specialty insurance coverages.
Understanding of corporate ownership structures financing structures leases development agreements procurement contracts and project lifecycle milestones.
Experience working with brokers insurers lender insurance advisors legal teams project teams or cross-border stakeholders.
Familiarity with global master programmes local admitted policies insurance evidence requirements and international compliance considerations.
Knowledge Skills & Abilities:
Strong written and oral communication skills with the ability to clearly explain insurance requirements to legal finance development procurement operations and external stakeholders.
Strong analytical capabilities and practical technical knowledge of insurance risk transfer and contract review concepts.
High level of organisation attention to detail follow-through and ability to manage competing priorities in a deadline-driven environment.
Ability to work independently and as part of a team including collaboration with stakeholders across multiple countries and time zones.
Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and maintain accurate records trackers and documentation.
Proficiency in Microsoft Word Excel PowerPoint Outlook Teams and Smartsheet or comparable project/document management tools.
Self-motivated curious and driven to learn and expand technical commercial and interpersonal skills.
Ability to travel periodically including international travel as business needs require.
