About the Role
You willprovide ahigh qualitypro-active academic learning support service to learners who have severe learning difficulties and/or complex all learners receiving supporthave the opportunity toachieve as well as their peers andare able tostay as independent as possible. Providingsupport to students to develop their skills to help them transition smoothly into adulthood and empower them to achieve their learningemploymentand independence goals.
Responsibilities

Provide high quality in class or small group support to learners identified withadditionallearning needs under the guidance of the class teacher in all learning environments across both college sites

Plan implement and measure the impact of the support work carried out in the classroomin order toevaluate its effectiveness and work towards continual improvement of the service

Attend to personal care needsasrequired such byassistancewithhoisting toiletingand feeding and pushing wheelchairs around both college sites and forshort specifieddistances during off site visits

Enable the learner voice and the views of staff to be heard in the development and delivery of the learning support function

Take on the management of small projects as directed by the Learning Managerin order tobroaden personal experience

Develop an understanding of barriers to learning and the wide range of ways to overcome these; to also develop a comprehensive knowledge of learning difficulties and disabilities and the strategies to alleviate these
Requirements

Maths and English to at least level 2

Understanding of factors that create barriers to learning and strategies to overcome these
-
Knowledge of quality improvement systems and tools to support these
-
Knowledge and/or experience of disabilities and learning difficulties and strategies to support these
-
If working with identified learners with mobility difficulties an ability to push wheelchairs short distances on both college sites and during off-site visits
