Our client is a privately owned freight forwarder who specialise in a unique sector of the market and due to expansion are currently looking for an Import Clerk to work at their offices based in Basildon.The role is suitable for someone with some experience of Ocean container freight who is keen and eager to learn all aspects of Ocean Import freight forwarding.This role is a great opportunity for someone who is keen to progress within this sector as the company offer excellent promotion potential for the right candidate with opportunities given for further progression as the company is looking to develop the candidate with time to hopefully progress them to a more senior level with additional responsibilities and challenges.
Duties will include:
Add customer shipments and enter cargo detail / shipment information onto the internal system
Ensure all file data is accurate and up to date before handing over manifests to warehouse
Assist the transport team with arranging of domestic deliveries as and when required
Liaise with other import operators to plan container movements / unloading
Co-ordinating with other team members based in UK & offices overseas to arrange container unloading and final deliveries of goods.
Checking customs entries & shipment data to ensure data is accurate prior to clearance.
Sending Pre alerts to final destinations. Job processing costing and invoicing.
Working hours Monday to Friday 9am to 5pm.
Salary negotiable depending on experience

Requirements:
Excellent level of computer literacyand agood understanding of Excel and MS packages is required
Experience in Imports from the US would be beneficial but not essential
Good communication skills both written and verbal
Enthusiastic and engaging personality
A high level of accuracy and attention to detail
