Due to continued growth we are seeking a Hydrologist to join our established Flood Risk and Water Environment team delivering projects for a diverse range of public and private sector clients including developers Local Flood Authorities water companies and environmental regulators.
Working alongside experienced Hydrologists Hydraulic Modellers Hydrogeologists Water Resources Planners and Water Quality Scientists youll support the delivery of flood risk and water environment projects across the UK. This role offers excellent opportunities to develop your technical capabilities through a combination of office-based analysis site visits and mentoring from experienced professionals.
You will be involved in:
- Undertaking hydrological assessments to support flood risk and hydraulic modelling studies.
- Deriving hydrological inputs using industry-standard methodologies and software.
- Preparing technical reports calculations and supporting documentation.
- Supporting the development of Flood Risk Assessments (FRAs) and Strategic Flood Risk Assessments (SFRAs).
- GIS analysis and mapping.
- Site visits catchment walkovers and stakeholder meetings where required.
- Supporting project delivery teams on a variety of flood risk and water environment projects.
You will join a friendly and collaborative team with flexibility to be based from our Manchester London Edinburgh Glasgow Newcastle or Nottingham offices. Other UK locations may also be considered.

- You will have gained some consultancy or similar commercial experience supporting hydrology flood risk or water environment projects.
- A degree in Civil Engineering Geography Environmental Science or a related discipline.
- A commitment to working towards chartership with CIWEM ICE or a similar professional institution.
- Experience using hydrological methods and software such as FEH ReFH2 and WINFAP.
- Experience using LowFlows would be advantageous.
- An understanding of hydrological assessment techniques and UK industry guidance.
- Experience supporting Flood Risk Assessments (FRAs) Strategic Flood Risk Assessments (SFRAs) or similar technical studies.
- A basic understanding of UK flood risk policy planning guidance and climate change allowances.
- Experience using GIS software such as ArcGIS Pro or QGIS.
- Strong analytical numerical and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent written and verbal communication abilities.
- The ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team.
- A proactive approach to learning development and professional growth.
- Experience developing or interpreting 1D and 2D hydraulic models using software such as TUFLOW and Flood Modeller.
