HSE Manager

Were working with a well-established manufacturing business to recruit an HSE Manager. This is a fantastic opportunity to join a successful organisation in a key leadership role taking ownership of the sites Health Safety and Environmental strategy while driving a culture of continuous improvement.

Reporting directly to the Deputy Managing Director youll be the sites subject matter expert for all aspects of Health Safety and Environmental compliance working closely with managers across the business to maintain the highest standards.

The Role

As HSE Manager youll be responsible for developing implementing and maintaining the companys Health Safety and Environmental strategy ensuring compliance with legislation while promoting best practice throughout the site.

Key responsibilities include:

• Leading the sites Health Safety and Environmental strategy.

• Ensuring compliance with all relevant HSE legislation and driving continuous improvement.

• Managing the HSE management system including risk assessments COSHH DSEAR fire safety and machinery safety.

• Leading accident and incident investigations root cause analysis and corrective actions including RIDDOR reporting.

• Chairing Health & Safety Committee meetings and promoting a proactive safety culture across the business.

• Managing contractor control procedures and permit-to-work systems.

• Overseeing environmental compliance including waste management trade effluent energy usage water consumption and packaging obligations.

• Driving sustainability initiatives focused on reducing waste and improving environmental performance.

• Preparing for customer BRC and regulatory audits.

• Producing monthly HSE reports and KPI data for the senior leadership team.

• Developing and delivering Health & Safety training toolbox talks and coaching managers to take ownership of safety.

• Managing risks associated with a manufacturing environment including dust explosion steam processing FLTs chemicals confined spaces and animal by-products.

• Supporting the business in delivering its long-term Health Safety and Environmental objectives.

About You

To be successful in this role youll have:

• At least five years Health Safety and Environmental leadership experience within a manufacturing environment.

• A NEBOSH Diploma or be working towards achieving it.

• CMIOSH status or be working towards Chartered membership would be advantageous.

• Experience managing environmental compliance and permits.

• Strong auditing incident investigation and KPI reporting experience.

• Excellent communication skills with the ability to influence and engage stakeholders at all levels.

• Previous experience within food feed or FMCG manufacturing would be advantageous.

• Knowledge of BRC ISO 14001 and ATEX would be beneficial.
