About the Role Mission or Department Overview

The HRIS Analyst II reports directly to the HRIS Senior Manager and is important for optimizing and supporting Workday Performance Core HCM Compensation HR reporting and related areas. Primary responsibilities include system configuration issue troubleshooting data analysis testing production support and creating mid-level reports. Working with senior HRIS analysts the HR operations team and partners you will guide enhancements to provide HR technology solutions.

This is a hybrid role based in our Norfolk VA office. You can typically expect to come into the office 2 days/week.

Responsibilities:

  • Be a primary technical contact for the Workday Performance module while providing functional support for Core HCM Compensation Payroll and Time/Absence domains.

  • Accomplish end-to-end system configuration to support global performance evaluation cycles.

  • Be a primary contact for performance workflow design and resolution of technical issues.

  • Deliver technical and user support for Workday handling questions troubleshooting and resolving issues across supported modules.

  • Execute assigned production support tickets and project tasks with high accuracy and within target deadlines.

  • Maintain HCM production support processes encompassing monitoring detailed analysis and issue resolution.

  • Define refine and maintain business process configurations.

  • Configure schedule and oversee automated mass actions and system alert notifications.

  • Participate in Workdays biannual feature update cycles.

  • Collaborate with the Workday Security team to configure and maintain domain and business process security policies.

  • Design and deploy Workday solutions tailored to meet functional requirements and improve operational efficiency.

  • Test and implement new feature enhancements analyzing impacts across Performance Compensation HCM Benefits Payroll reporting and integrations.

  • Audit and validate system data and reports to preserve data integrity and maintain internal control standards.

  • Review end-user data entry practices to identify process gaps and strengthen data governance controls.

  • Provide HRIS system maintenance solution implementations and module troubleshooting.

  • Partner with senior HRIS analysts to achieve shared goals exchange technical knowledge and foster skill growth.

  • Engage with HR partners to lead new module functionality enhancements and broader HCM programs.

  • Communicate technical insights analytical findings to non-technical partners.

  • Demonstrate support and understanding of our value of journalistic independence and a commitment to our mission to seek the truth and help people understand the world.

  • You will report to the Sr. Manager of HRIS

Basic Qualifications:

  • Minimum 2 years of experience in an HRIS Analyst or functional HR systems role.

  • Minimum 2 years of hands-on experience configuring and maintaining Workday Performance Management.

  • Demonstrated experience writing and generating custom Workday reports.

  • Experience maintaining Workday business processes security protocols and system release updates.

  • Advanced proficiency in Google Sheets or Microsoft Excel (e.g. complex formulas pivot tables).

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Hands-on experience managing Workday Time Tracking and Absence modules.

  • Familiarity with additional Workday modules and departments such as Security Integrations and Prism Analytics.

  • Bachelors degree in Human Resources Business Information Systems or a related discipline (or equivalent practical experience).

The annual base pay range for this role is between:

$75000 - $95000 USD
