Job Summary

People are at the centre of every successful school and this role sits right at the heart of that support. An Outstanding secondary school in Croydon is seeking an experienced HR Officer to join its professional support team on a full-time permanent basis from October Half Term 2026.

This is a varied opportunity covering the full employee lifecycle from recruitment and onboarding through to employee records HR processes and staff support. Youll work closely with school leaders and colleagues across the organisation providing a responsive and professional HR service in a busy educational environment.

What Youll Be Looking After

The role will involve a broad range of HR responsibilities including:

  • Coordinating recruitment and onboarding processes

  • Preparing contracts offer letters and HR documentation

  • Maintaining accurate employee records and the Single Central Record

  • Supporting safer recruitment and pre-employment checks

  • Advising managers on day-to-day HR procedures and policies

  • Supporting absence performance and employee relations processes

  • Liaising with payroll regarding starters leavers and contractual changes

  • Preparing HR reports and maintaining confidential personnel information

Who Theyre Looking For

This position would suit an experienced HR Officer HR Advisor or HR Administrator ready to take on a broader remit.

Youll need strong knowledge of HR processes excellent attention to detail and the confidence to handle confidential and sensitive matters professionally. Previous experience within a school or education setting would be beneficial particularly familiarity with safer recruitment and the Single Central Record.
