The HR Officer post sits within the Corporate Services team at the Scottish COVID-19 Inquiry. The Scottish COVID-19 Inquiry is the biggest Inquiry ever conducted in Scotland and is investigating the devolved strategic response to the COVID-19 pandemic in Scotland from 1 January 2020 to 31 December 2022. The Inquiry will present its findings and make recommendations to Scottish Corporate Services Team sits in the Operations Division and consists of Finance HR Procurement business support administration planning risk management and property.

Working as part of a small team the ideal candidate will have a flexible and adaptable approach to role requires strong interpersonal skills as you will be working closely with all members of the Inquiryas well askey stakeholders within SG. The teamis responsible for;managing staffing issues providing advice resourcing workforce planning induction the PeopleSurveyand advising on and arranging learning & development and training amongst other is an ideal development opportunity for someone looking to broaden their HR experience.



Responsibilities

Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage the recruitment processes for temporary staff alongside the other HR officer which includes actioning allrequests and associated paperwork on-boarding and induction.
  • Manage customer inquiries (includingtransactional queries) and escalations along with the management of theHR team mailbox.
  • Provide advice support and assurance regarding the application of key HR policies and procedures and employment law as well as providing support with individual case management
  • Ensuring employee data and records are maintained accurately in line with data regulations(e.g. GDPR compliance).

  • Data gathering to inform key decisions and/or to understand service quality.

  • Project work relating to HR operational or service changes and improvementsand the annual People Survey.
  • Co-ordinate and where required help deliver learning and development training to colleagues across the inquiry working with the SG learning team and external bodies as appropriate.
  • Undertake other ad hoc duties as required such as SBM position management duties and assisting with Inquiry wide events.
