We are seeking a proactive HR Manager for a school in Portsmouth. The role covers the full range of day-to-day HR responsibilities with a focus on providing practical advice maintaining compliance and supporting a positive staff culture.

It would suit someone who enjoys working closely with managers and is confident dealing with a varied workload.

• Oversee recruitment onboarding and employment checks.

• Advise managers on absence performance and employee relations.

• Support disciplinary and grievance procedures.

• Maintain staff records HR systems and policies.

• Coordinate appraisals training and development.

• Ensure HR practices meet employment law and safeguarding requirements.

• Experience in HR management or a senior HR advisory role.

• Strong knowledge of employment law and HR procedures.

• Excellent communication and organisation.

• Confidence managing confidential and sensitive matters.

• School experience is helpful but not essential.

This is a broad hands-on HR role where you can make a real contribution to the way staff are supported and managed.
