Summary
- The Housing advisor is a pivotal role within a local authority focused on preventing homelessness in line with the Homelessness Reduction Act and other relevant legislation. This position involves assessing housing needs managing complex caseloads and providing crucial advice advocacy and support to individuals and families at risk of homelessness. The role is essential in ensuring that vulnerable populations receive the necessary assistance to secure and maintain stable housing.
Responsibilities
- Manage a complex caseload of customers at risk of homelessness ensuring timely and effective interventions.
- Conduct housing needs assessments and develop personalized housing plans.
- Provide advice mediation and negotiation to prevent homelessness and sustain tenancies.
- Explore all available housing options including private renting and alternative accommodation solutions.
- Maintain accurate case records and ensure performance targets are met.
Essential Experience Required
- Experience working in housing advice homelessness prevention or related services.
- Experience managing a caseload in a busy customer-focused environment.
- Experience providing advice negotiation or mediation support to vulnerable individuals.
- Knowledge of housing options and tenancy-related issues.
Essential Qualifications Required
- Good standard of education (GCSE or equivalent including English and Maths).
- Strong understanding of homelessness legislation and housing law.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
Additional Information
- Working hours: 35 hours per week.
- Location: 6 Brixton Hill London Lambeth SW2 1RW United Kingdom.
- Work pattern: 3 days a week in the office / 2 days remote.
- Bi-weekly schedule.
