Job Summary

We are working closely alongside a Local Authority in Lambeth to assist with the appointment of a Housing Adviser on a 6.5-month contract highly likely to be extended at clients discretion. Please apply with your CV for immediate consideration.

Rate of Pay: 22.51 - 29.67 per hour

Summary:

The Housing Adviser will involve undertaking housing needs assessments developing personalised housing plans and managing a complex caseload of priority and non-priority customers. The successful candidate will provide advice advocacy negotiation and mediation to explore all available housing options and prevent homelessness wherever possible.

Responsibilities:

  • Provide a front-of-house housing advice and assistance service ensuring customers are directed to the appropriate service.
  • Undertake comprehensive housing needs assessments and develop personalised housing plans based on individual circumstances.
  • Manage a complex caseload of priority and non-priority customers and ensure accurate and detailed case records are maintained.
  • Prevent and relieve homelessness through advice advocacy negotiation mediation and conciliation.
  • Provide housing advice and mediation to households who have been asked to leave accommodation by family or friends including undertaking home visits where required.
  • Explore all available housing options to prevent homelessness and reduce the need for temporary accommodation.

Qualification:

  • Relevant qualification or equivalent experience in housing homelessness housing advice social housing or a related field.
  • Demonstrable knowledge of the Homelessness Reduction Act and Part VII of the Housing Act 1996.
  • Knowledge of housing benefit welfare rights and relevant housing legislation.

Essentials:

  • Proven experience working in a housing options homelessness housing advice or related environment.
  • Experience undertaking housing needs assessments and developing personalised housing plans.
  • Experience managing a complex caseload in a busy customer-facing environment.
  • Strong knowledge of homelessness legislation particularly the Homelessness Reduction Act and Housing Act 1996.
  • Experience investigating homeless applications and assessing statutory homelessness duties.
