Wayman Education is seeking an enthusiastic and dedicated teacher of history to join a highly successful humanities department at an exceptional secondary school in Steyning. This full-time position offers an exciting opportunity to teach a well-structured curriculum across Key Stage 3 and Key Stage 4 with the potential to contribute to Key Stage 5 delivery for a suitably qualified candidate.

Key responsibilities

• Plan prepare and deliver high-quality engaging history lessons that inspire students across Key Stage 3 and Key Stage 4.

• Plan and sequence innovative schemes of work that cater to a wide range of learning abilities using effective adaptive teaching strategies.

• Assess track and report on student progress and attainment in line with exam board specifications implementing targeted interventions where necessary.

• Actively contribute to the wider life of the school and the humanities department including educational visits and open evenings.

• Maintain high expectations for student behavior and academic achievement creating a positive safe and purposeful learning environment.

Requirements

• Qualifications: Must hold QTS (Qualified Teacher Status) or QTLS alongside a degree in history or a closely related discipline.

• Experience: A proven track record of teaching history within a UK secondary school setting (including successful ITT/PGCE placements).

• Skills: Exceptional subject knowledge across various historical periods confident classroom management techniques and excellent communication skills.

• A strong commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people.
