Job Summary

4 months contract with a local authority

Job Purpose

  • The Highways Inspector is responsible for supporting the Highways team by delivering inspection monitoring and public liaison services across the boroughs highway network.
  • The role ensures that highway assets are maintained to a safe and compliant standard by identifying defects raising appropriate works orders and liaising with contractors and utility providers to ensure timely and effective repairs.

Key Duties/Accountabilities

  • Carry out routine visual inspections across the highway network to identify defects and safety issues.
  • Record and report defects accurately in line with council procedures.
  • Raise works orders with contractors and issue defect notices to utility companies to ensure repairs are actioned.
  • Monitor the progress of repair works and ensure completion within agreed timescales.
  • Follow up on outstanding issues to ensure all works are completed to the required standards.

Essential Experience Required

  • Experience working within highways construction maintenance or a similar fieldbased inspection role.
  • Experience of identifying defects and managing works orders or service requests.
  • Experience dealing with customer enquiries or publicfacing interactions.

Essential Qualifications Required

  • Basic understanding of highway maintenance and asset inspection.
  • Knowledge of health and safety practices within a fieldbased environment.
  • Familiarity with using IT systems to record inspections and update information.

  • Working hours: 7.5 hours per day

  • Work pattern - The job is mainly remote working out in their assigned areas occasional meetings in office.
  • We work on bi-weekly schedule.
