Highways Inspector
Job Summary
4 months contract with a local authority
Job Purpose
- The Highways Inspector is responsible for supporting the Highways team by delivering inspection monitoring and public liaison services across the boroughs highway network.
- The role ensures that highway assets are maintained to a safe and compliant standard by identifying defects raising appropriate works orders and liaising with contractors and utility providers to ensure timely and effective repairs.
Key Duties/Accountabilities
- Carry out routine visual inspections across the highway network to identify defects and safety issues.
- Record and report defects accurately in line with council procedures.
- Raise works orders with contractors and issue defect notices to utility companies to ensure repairs are actioned.
- Monitor the progress of repair works and ensure completion within agreed timescales.
- Follow up on outstanding issues to ensure all works are completed to the required standards.
Essential Experience Required
- Experience working within highways construction maintenance or a similar fieldbased inspection role.
- Experience of identifying defects and managing works orders or service requests.
- Experience dealing with customer enquiries or publicfacing interactions.
Essential Qualifications Required
- Basic understanding of highway maintenance and asset inspection.
- Knowledge of health and safety practices within a fieldbased environment.
- Familiarity with using IT systems to record inspections and update information.

- Working hours: 7.5 hours per day

- Work pattern - The job is mainly remote working out in their assigned areas occasional meetings in office.
- We work on bi-weekly schedule.
